The Wilcox County High School Spanish Club recently teamed up with ChickfilA of Cordele for a successful sack-lunch fundraiser. When we approached Manager Chuck Hollingsworth and Christy Duke, they were very helpful and supportive. ChickfilA delivered the chicken sandwiches with condiments at a reduced cost, while the Spanish Club added the chips, cookies, and drinks to complete the meal. The club sold 215 sack lunches.
The proceeds from the sales will help several members of the WCHS Spanish Club pay for airline tickets to Puerto Rico. This July, about sixteen members of the club will be participating in a cultural experience tour to Puerto Rico. This trip will allow the members to practice their Spanish first-hand, while exploring the culture, history, food, and geography of Puerto Rico.
Under the advisement of Lisa Harden, the club now has 90 members who are very active in community and national service projects. According to Señora Harden, “The ChickfilA fundraiser far exceeded our expectations and we appreciate all those who supported us in this effort.”
